What is (are) ShortCuts?

Hi, I'm Patrick Thompson. I've been a musician since I was 6 years old and not many days have gone by where I haven't sat at a piano. A significant portion of my professional artistic career has been as an accompanist. From audition rooms to classrooms, I've worked with thousands of performers who are growing in their own artistry. The impulse behind starting ShortCuts came from conversations with auditioning actors and how they were navigating their repertoire that they take into auditions. Most auditions don't allow you to sing full selections and it's hard to find a good cut from a preexisting song. Sometimes you have to sacrifice story for just trying to get to the "high part" while other times you can't quite cut out a full emotional beat without "frankensteining" the sheet music. Money and access to resources can often be a barrier for those who are auditioning and looking to be involved in theatre. ShortCuts are designed to help offset those costs and introduce new original material into your vocal practice.
